With her gently curled brunette hair, dainty physique and pretty face, Barbara certainly drew attention. Still, it soon became obvious to Brown that she had her eye on David. And although David was initially reluctant to get involved with a fellow employee, before long the pair had become an item.
After that, things moved quickly. By Christmas of that year, David had made Barbara pregnant. Then on April 2, 1983, the pair tied the knot. Sadly, though, by that time cracks in the couple’s relationship were already evident. And when their baby, John, arrived in August, the situation did not improve.
Exactly two years after their wedding, David and Barbara signed the divorce papers to end their unhappy marriage. At first, they appeared to keep their relationship civil, sharing custody of young John. But when Barbara remarried – to former policeman Michael Wolfe, a man almost twice her age – she shocked David by uprooting their son more than 2,000 miles away to Arizona.
